Punjab to celebrate its Cultural Day on November 27
Aligned with the theme of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ the Punjab Pavilion reflects a blend of industrial growth, tradition, and modernity, showcasing the state's rich culture and diverse strengths in industry, agriculture, handicrafts, fashion, and education during the ongoing India International Trade Fair (IITF2024) at Pragati Maidan New Delhi.
Punjab Pavillion is uniquely designed to showcase the state’s progressive vision under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S.Bhagwant Singh Mann. It highlights Punjab’s key contributions to the nation in the fields of milk production, cycle manufacturing, sports goods etc. Punjab Small Industries & Export Corporation (PSIEC), on behalf of the State Government, has made dedicated efforts under the guidance of Tejveer Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries & Commerce, DPS Kharbanda CEO Invest Punjab, Varinder Kumar Sharma, MD and Harjeet Singh Sandhu, AMD to depict Punjab’s rich culture and diverse strengths in industry, agriculture,handicrafts, fashion, and education, thereby contributing towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ .
Giving details about the pavilions design, the administrator of Punjab Pavilion, Davinderpal Singh said that at the entrance, digital display through an immersive LED installation symbolizes Punjab's forward-thinking spirit, while another screen showcases the state's role as a cultural and economic powerhouse. The pavilion showcases Punjab's unique architectural heritage with the iconic Nanakshahi brick, known for its organic beauty and distinctive kiln-burnt clay size. This timeless element is incorporated into a grand haveli-style entrance, featuring a photo-op location with "Sadda Punjab" signage. The Show Stopper:The Northern Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), locally known as "Baaj" Officially recognised as the state bird in Punjab, holds deep cultural and spiritual significance, especially within Sikh tradition.
Further, Deputy Administrator, Gurpreet Singh said that stalls from key departments such as Markfed, Milkfed, GMADA/PUDA, PEDA, Punjab Infotech, Punjab Agro, PSIEC, Invest Punjab, Punjab Tourism, Punjab Agricultural University, NIIFT, Punjab Mandi Board, PPCB and others have been setup in the pavilion to apprise the visitors about their products and services. An ‘Artist Corner’ highlights Punjab’s world-renowned art and craft, offering local artists a global platform through IITF 2024 to gain recognition as icons of culture and creativity. Besides this performance of Bhangra artists is also the attraction for the visitors. He further informed that the State Cultural Day will be organized by Punjab Tourism and Cultural affairs Department on the 27th of November.
